Learn your "Smash Factor"
But you might not know as much about the so-called “smash factor”.
This is really a way of measuring the amount of energy transferred between the clubhead and ball at impact. The ratio between club head speed and the ball’s launch speed gives a highly accurate indication of the accuracy of the contact you are making. No matter how fast you can swing the club, without a square clubface and a solid impact the ball will not go as far as you want, and probably not in the right direction either.
Desirable smash factors vary according to club in question. With a driver a good ratio might be 1:1.5, so that a club head speed of 100 miles per hour would result in a ball speed of 150. With higher lofted clubs such as your wedges you should aim for a ratio nearer to 1:1.25.
Trackman’s video technology
allows our experienced professional staff the opportunity to analyze your swing and impact position in detail, including the relationship between your club head path and face alignment, launch angle, and impact point on the club face – the “sweet spot”.
If these look good, but your smash factor is still less than optimal, it may be that your clubs need some adjustment [link] and at Moon Golf our equipment specialists can attend to this immediately.
And you can also forget the potential boredom of hitting balls into a net. In our state of the art Trackman simulator bays you’ll be hitting towards High Definition 3D graphics which create amazingly realistic images of the sort of shots you’ll face on a real golf course.
